Parent Information
- Parent Access to Student Grades
Beginning on Monday afternoon, September 29th, you will be able to obtain academic and attendance information regarding your student on-line through the Skyward Family Access System. As we roll out parent and student access, Attendance, Student Grades and the ability to communicate with the teacher via e-mail will be available from the very beginning. Other features will come on-line as the initial start up of the system is solidified.
Each parent, guardian, and student will have their own unique login and password. Parent and guardian login and password will be handed out Wed night during the High School Open House (6:30pm-8:05pm). If you are unable to attend tonight, an brief instruction letter with your login and password will be mailed to you on Thursday.
Once you have received your login and password, please visit http://family.meridian.wa-k12.net or click on the Skyward Family Access link in the upper right corner of the Meridian School District webpage.
We in Meridian are very excited about the opportunity to partner with parents in support of student learning. Once the initial start up is complete please feel free to let us know about your experience with the program.

- Community Participation Needed
Beginning in September of 2008 the Meridian School District will be seeking community participation and input as we seek to configure a bond issue to meet the needs of the aging structures and systems in the school district.
The Meridian School Board recently voted to retain the services of Zervas Group Architects of Bellingham to assist the district in building upon the long range facilities plan that was completed by a committee of community members in 2006.
The district was pleased by the nearly 52% support that the March 2008 bond measure received. Superintendent Tim Yeomans remarked that, “It was great to see that a majority of our community understood and supported the need for modernization of our school facilities. We now need to refocus our efforts and make a strong effort to involve community members at each stage in the process. If we work together I am sure that the community will support the very real need that is present.”
Please look for information coming in the fall about times and places where your valuable input can be given.
- IRPS Receives Grant for Playground!
Building upon the strong fundraising efforts of the Meridian PTA which purchased over thirty thousand dollars worth of new playground equipment for IRPS this past school year, the Meridian School District received a grant from the Catherine Snider estate in the amount of fifteen thousand dollars to help complete the project.
“It is a wonderful legacy that Catherine leaves. Her donation to the children of IRPS will be used nearly every day and will help the kids at IRPS be happy and active.”
The dollars will be used to provide a safe surface upon which to mount the newly purchased equipment.
- New Graduation Requirements for the class of 2008
Why are the graduation requirements changing? What is the purpose of the High School and Beyond Plan? What supports are in place to help students in special education? You will find answers to these questions -- and many more -- on the new graduation requirements Web site launched by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
- Long Range Facility Plan
Meridian School District has conducted a Study & Survey for the develpment of a Long-Range School Facility Improvement Plan addressing existing facility conditions and projected future needs. The Long-Range Planning Committee was composed of citizens, staff and consultants. They were given the task of defining a sound, workable plan of action that will result in school facilites that are adequate in capacity, safe, healthful, and capable of supporting the specific needs of the defined educational program.
